My favorite ghost story is "Poltergeist." My favorite creature feature is "Predator." My favorite slasher series is "Nightmare on Elm Street." Freddy Krueger cracks me up!
I have to sadly admit that I am petrified of Halloween and scary movies. Doesn't mean that I won't watch them but I can't cope with it but I do like Poltergeist, like you said.
For me...it'd be a toss up between "Silver Bullet" and "Fright Night". Both scared the living crap out of me the first time I saw them, but I'd choose the former to watch over and over again.
"Rosemary's Baby" for portraying motherhood as demonic possession (sounds about right to me). I love many ghost movies and almost no zombie movies--that's my basic dichotomy between terror and horror (gore). "Poltergeist" is one of my favorites, too. Another favorite is "The Ring."
Pet Cemetery scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it, but then the repeat viewing ten years later seemed kind of lame. I love all zombie movies. Anything with 'of the Dead' in the title is good, but 'Shaun of the Dead' is my favorite. And I realize that is a scary movie only if you happen to be an eight year old, but still...
I remember the first time I saw The Exorcist. I was sixteen years old and up until that time the old Wolfman and Mummy movies were the scariest things I had ever seen. We were waiting in line to see the movie and as the previous showing let out everyone coming out was crying and looking like they were going to pass out. We were all joking with each other about what a bunch of losers they were and of course two hours later we were looking more or less the same.
Are we talking horror horror or just creepy? For horror I would have to go with "IT" by Stephen King. Can not take the clowns. Also "Sessions 9" was pretty creepy, I slept with the lights on for at least 2 nights on that one. Oh and "Blair Witch Project" because I didn't know any better.
Thanks for stopping by! Answer any question you like, however you like. Hopefully we'll learn a little bit about ourselves and a lot about each other. Happy answering!
