Blind Date

Have you ever been on a blind date? If so, how did it go? If not, would you ever go on one?

I've never been on one, but I totally would. I think it would be an interesting experience. Know anyone?

My parents met on a blind date, true story. The only blind date I ever went on was with someone a sometimes-friend in HS knew online and set me up with.

It did not go well. Since I am now married, hopefully I'll never have to experiment with it again!

Yes. A buddy's girlfriend fixed me up with one of her friends and when she showed up at the apartment where we were all to meet, my buddy took one look at her, one look at me and then excused himself to go to the bathroom. He was gone FOREVER it seemed and later I found out that he had been in the bathroom doubled over with laughter, tears streaming, and everytime he thought he had it together he'd lose it again. Later the same evening, my sister and her husband spotted us all from a restaurant window and she later told me she'd never in her life seen a human being look so miserable.

Never been on one, and I don't think I'm brave enough to.

Yep. Been on one. Well sort of. An ex co-worker of mine just HAD TO introduce me to her best friend's son who happened to be a firefighter. (Had he not been a firefighter I would have said HELL NO right away but men in uniform hold a special place in my heart! ;)Come on, you know you agree with me! )In any case, she wouldn't drop it so I had to meet him. I agreed to go to lunch with him BUT I insisted that she and her best friend (his mother) come too. (I wasn't willing to be stuck there by myself for an hour in case the uniform wasn't enough to keep me interested!) Come the day of the meeting, we agreed to meet at a restaurant for lunch, I get out of my car (a tiny Ford Probe) and I see this bald middle aged man wearing the tighest jeans I've ever seen on a man with a gigantic belt buckle staring at me and I hear "You's a biggo girl, ain't ya?" OOOOHHHH, IT WAS ON THEN! Allow me to remind you that I am indeed 6 foot tall but I've never considered myself to be a BIG anything! By GOD, it took everything out of me not to turn around, get back in my car and run over him (several times). So, I smiled politely, ate lunch, made small talk for an hour and told my ex co-worker that she owed me. She still does.

One blind date when I was in high school. Some people at my church (whose name I don't remember) set me up with a friend of theirs (whose name I don't remember) to go to the movies. We saw Major League (THAT I remember--I love that movie to the point that I can quote it) and I remember thinking that wasn't necessarily an appropriate film to see with someone from church but that I really didn't care because I'd never have to go out with the guy again anyway. And yeah, that's all I remember about it. I'm assuming he got me home safely and I don't think he tried anything (y'know, church setup and all.)
