I'm not a fan of any glurge music, so most country music is out right there. And a lot of songs from the 70s fall into that category, too. But there are two songs that I can't get away from fast enough. "Freebird" makes me want to go deaf. I actually walked out of my personal training session early because the gym was playing "Freebird" and I was becoming ill. The other one is Bryan Adams's "Everything I Do"--I almost drove my car off the road trying to change the radio station one day when that song came on. (And no, I don't watch Robin Hood, but that's because Kevin Costner can't act.)
Hmmm....'recent songs' - Get Ur Freak On - Missy Elliot. Older - Wildfire - Michael Martin Murphy. Those two songs make me want to take a hostage.
Amy that is so funny--I almost put Wildfire as my choice! I hate that stupid song about that stupid horse who couldn't come in out of the snow. And while we're on useless horse songs, "Horse With No Name" has no other purpose in life than to annoy me.

And 99.9% of rap and country.
'I Will Always Love You' - Whitney Houston's version. Didn't even have to think about it. That song is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
And V, have you checked out alternative country music? You won't find it on the radio, but some of it's worth a listen.

I alway liked Horse With No Name myself. That and Muskrat Love. Now tell me you all don't dig on some Muskrat Love...

Tough question...there's so many songs I truly despise. The one that makes me want to rip off my ears is "Soul Man". OMG I HATE THAT SONG!
Runner-up would be "Sonny Came Home" by Shawn Colvin. Makes me want to find her and kick her ass for recording that song and inflicting it on the masses.
And as an avid country music listener, I must take offense, vika. Although I will agree with you on the rap music-total waste of radio air.
Hold the truck up for jest a second--I am seriously down with the old school rap, shawties. NWA, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, and DUH, the Beastie Boys! Don't know what's wrong wit you peoples. DAG!
Translation: As a white person, I must admit to an appreciation of the older style rap music, including acts such as NWA, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, and obviously the Beastie Boys. I cannot understand why such educated, intelligent, open-minded scholars such as yourselves don't share my enjoyment of such fine musical expression.

Nope, I can't do it. Mostly it just makes me want to change the station.
I am not adverse to trying new music, and I can'tsay that I would reject alt country, bill, but for now my aversion to both that and most rap stands.
Anything by Linkin Park where that Chinese guy is rapping. Also anything by 3 Doors Down from a Puddle of Nickel-Creed also tends to annoy me greatly.
