Flying am I enjoying greatly, though it's becoming a pain in the ass to fly ocmmercial. If I could afford it, I'd fly on a private charter in a heart-beat. No stupid little baggies for the toiletries, allowed to actually carry my pocket knife (carried it for years, feels wrong to be without it), actually get something to eat. Business class on most commercials isn't bad, but you still have to go through the strip-search at security to make sure you're not going to attack the stewardess with your 1.5 oz bottle of hair gel.
I am terrified of flying. I mean down to the bones terrified.
However, the security song and dance has just gotten ridiculous. It won't be long until you have to totally disrobe at the checkpoint. You'll get a paper gown and carboard slippers to wear on your flight.
After yesterday's stupid delay, I'm not terribly excited about flying. And I'm really over paying high ticket prices and getting nothing for it. United won't even give you a snack for short domestic flights. We did get a full can of soda, etc. but not even a cheap little bag of pretzels! What's up with that?
Personally, I'm waiting until we can just teleport.
I LOVE flying. It gives me little adrenaline rushes like being on a roller coaster, and sometimes I get mild airsickness from the pressure and altitude changes, but it's amazing to be up in the air! I recently went on a helicopter ride, and my hubby took me for a ride with his sister, who is a small craft pilot, in a Cessna for a birthday gift once.
but I agree with the bitching about domestic commercial flight. International is slightly better, but it's still a ripoff.
My main bitch is always luggage wieght restrictions. I'm usually travelling for a long period. How are you supposed to take your stuff with you for a year in 50kilos of luggage space? I can't afford to rebuy everything or ship my stuff!
I have a feeling that there is just about one more good flight left in my system and I hope this trip is it. Anyway when I have finished this job, I mean to give up long-distance "stunt" flying.
Thanks for stopping by! Answer any question you like, however you like. Hopefully we'll learn a little bit about ourselves and a lot about each other. Happy answering!
