Disappointment

What's worse: To be disappointed by your child(ren), spouse, or parent(s)?

That's a very though question. I don't have children yet, but I think it would be more difficult to be disappointed by ...gosh, I don't know! I suppose it would depend on the situation.

Not one of the options, but self disappointment is the worst. It's much easier to forgive someone else.

Agreed, but that wasn't the question, Bilbo. So out of the three choices, which one?

Then I'm going to go with... parents. My parents never disappointed me, so I can't say for sure, but with their track record of stability it would have to hurt.

Now my children on the other hand. I thought some more about this and I think the reason they don't disappoint me so much is that I'm able to look back on all the crap I got into as a child and a teen and see that I turned out more or less okay. So when I see them pulling some stupid stunt, I take it as part of growing and maturing. I talk to them about it, hope they learned something from it and move on.
